I added / requested a shared mailbox but it's not showing in desktop Outlook

Unlike locally hosted servers (Exchange/HMail) changes to 365 aren't instant. In most cases simply waiting is all you need do. However you can force Outlook to reload your account settings.

Click File, Select "Account Settings" and "Account Settings" again. Select your 365 account and select change. Click next and then done. This will pull your account settings from 365 and re-apply them.

It can take 365 a while to commit changes so if this fails please allow an hour or two before raising a support ticket.
